1. Who we are and what these terms cover

Structional Learn ("Structional", "we") is a free interactive website for learning structural and civil engineering. It is run by:

OWNER / COMPANY NAME, ADDRESS, COMPANY CODE · VAT NUMBER, if any · hello@structional.org

These terms apply when you use the site. By using it, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the site. How we handle personal data is explained in our Privacy policy.

2. The service

  • Lessons, quick lessons ("Spans"), tasks, the placement test and the tools (Sandbox, calculator) are free.
  • You don't need an account. Progress and settings are saved in your own browser (see the privacy policy).
  • We keep improving the site, so lessons, tools and features may change, move or be removed.

3. Educational content, not engineering advice

Structional teaches how structures work. It is not professional engineering advice, and it is no substitute for a qualified engineer.

  • Don't use our lessons, numbers or tools to design, check, build, alter or assess a real structure without a qualified engineer and the design codes and laws that apply where you build.
  • Our examples are simplified on purpose: idealised supports, round numbers, simple loads. Unless a lesson says otherwise, they leave out safety factors, load combinations and code checks that real design needs.
  • The Sandbox and calculator are learning tools. They don't check stability, buckling, connections, materials or code rules unless they clearly say so.
  • We test the numbers in our lessons carefully, but mistakes can happen. If you spot one, please tell us (the "report a mistake" button, or hello@structional.org).
  • Workplace and safety trainings, when we offer them, support an employer's own instruction. They don't replace official training or certificates that the law requires.

4. Your age

  • Anyone can use the lessons.
  • Accounts are for people aged 16 and over (see section 9).
  • If you're under 18, please read these terms with a parent or guardian.

5. Acceptable use

Please use the site fairly. Don't:

  • break the law, or use the site to harm anyone;
  • attack, overload or probe the site, or try to get around its security or access rules;
  • scrape or bulk-download lessons, questions or tools, or copy them into another product or AI training set, without our written permission;
  • cheat on company tests: taking a test for someone else, sharing questions or answers, or helping a candidate during a test;
  • put abusive, unlawful, misleading or personal information (yours or anyone else's) into feedback;
  • pretend to be someone else, or create accounts automatically.

Normal use is always fine: reading, solving tasks, sharing links and making notes for your own study.

Content moderation. We review feedback and may remove any that breaks these rules. If you break them seriously or repeatedly, we may limit or suspend access to features or accounts. We'll tell you why, unless the law stops us, and you can reply to hello@structional.org to challenge our decision.

6. Intellectual property

  • Our content belongs to us. Lessons, text, drawings, animations, questions, the Sandbox and other software, the Structional name and logo are © YEAR Structional, or used with permission. All rights reserved.
  • You may use the site for your own learning, share links to it, and show it in a classroom or lecture with credit to "Structional" [confirm].
  • You may not copy, republish, sell, or make modified versions of our content without our written permission. That includes our questions and test templates.
  • Your Sandbox drawings and notes are yours.
  • Your feedback. When you send us feedback, ideas or mistake reports, you give us a free, worldwide, non-exclusive, permanent licence to use them to improve and run Structional. We won't publish your name with your feedback without asking you first.

7. Availability, "as is"

We work hard to keep Structional correct and online, but we offer the free service "as is" and "as available". We can't promise that it will always be available, error-free or suitable for a particular purpose. We may pause it for maintenance, or change it.

If we ever plan to close the service, or a paid feature, we'll give account holders reasonable notice and a way to export their data.

This section doesn't limit your legal rights as a consumer for paid digital content or services (see section 10).

8. Our liability

  • We are fully liable, as the law requires, for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for harm we cause on purpose or through gross negligence, for fraud, and for anything else the law doesn't allow us to exclude or limit.
  • Otherwise, for the free service, we aren't liable for loss or damage that comes from:
  • using our content or tools for real-world design, construction or safety decisions (see section 3);
  • lost progress saved in your browser, for example after clearing your browser data;
  • things outside our reasonable control, such as network or provider outages.
  • For paid plans, our total liability for other losses is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. This limit doesn't apply to the exceptions in the first bullet, or to your statutory consumer rights.
  • Business customers (companies) are covered by the liability terms in their separate agreement (section 11).

If you're a consumer, nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under the mandatory consumer laws of your country.

9. Accounts (when launched)

  • Accounts are optional and free. You sign in with your email and a password, a one-time code sent to your email, or Google. Keep your password to yourself; you're responsible for what happens under your account.
  • You must be 16 or over, and the details you give must be true. One account per person.
  • Keep access to your email and Google account secure. You're responsible for what happens through your account, unless it wasn't your fault.
  • You can delete your account at any time on the account page, or by writing to hello@structional.org. You can export your data first.
  • We may suspend or close an account that seriously breaks these terms (section 5). Unless there's a good reason not to, such as security, we'll warn you first.

10. Paid plans (later)

Learning on Structional stays free. If we offer paid extras for individuals later, this section will be completed before they launch:

  • Seller. Payments will be handled by a merchant of record, MERCHANT OF RECORD, e.g. Paddle. It is the seller and handles billing, invoices, VAT and refunds. Its own terms also apply to the purchase.
  • Prices will be shown, including VAT, before you pay. Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel. You can cancel at any time, and access continues until the end of the paid period.
  • 14-day right of withdrawal (EU and EEA consumers). You can withdraw from a purchase within 14 days, without giving a reason. For a subscription or other digital service, if you ask us to start straight away, you may pay for the part already used. For digital content you can access immediately (for example a downloadable pack), you lose the right to withdraw once access starts, but only if you expressly agreed to immediate access and confirmed that you knew you'd lose the right. We'll confirm that in writing. Withdrawal function and wording to be confirmed with the merchant of record.
  • Faulty content. If paid digital content or a paid service doesn't work as described, you have the legal rights to have it fixed, get a price reduction, or get your money back.

11. Company services

Company qualification tests, trainings and custom work are covered by a separate agreement with the company. It includes a data processing agreement (DPA), because the company is the controller for its candidates' and employees' data, and we are its processor. If that agreement differs from these terms, the agreement wins for the company's use.

Candidates and employees using a company test or training must also follow these terms, especially section 5. A test shows a suggested level only. The company makes every decision. For your data, see section 11 of the privacy policy.

12. Governing law and disputes

  • These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of Lithuania.
  • If you're a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you can bring a claim in the courts there, or in Lithuania.
  • Business users: the courts of Vilnius, Lithuania [confirm] have jurisdiction.
  • Please contact us first at hello@structional.org. Most problems are quick to fix.
  • Consumers in Lithuania can also turn to the State Consumer Rights Protection Authority (Valstybinė vartotojų teisių apsaugos tarnyba, vvtat.lrv.lt) for out-of-court dispute resolution. Consumers in other EU countries can contact their national consumer body or the European Consumer Centre network.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms when the service changes, for example when accounts or paid plans launch. We'll change the date at the top. For important changes, we'll email account holders at least 30 days before they take effect. If you don't agree, you can stop using the site and delete your account. Changes never apply backwards to purchases you've already made.

If a court finds one part of these terms invalid, the rest still applies.
